Virtual College, a leading provider of e-Learning in the UK with over 750,000 learners has worked with Lincoln Integrated Domestic Abuse Services (LIDAS) to develop an app aimed at providing useful information for victims of Domestic Abuse.

The app contains information and advice for both adult male and female victims in an easy to understand and accessible format.

Although a commonly used phrase, the extent to which ‘Domestic Abuse’ affects a large percentage of the population is largely not understood. For every three victims of domestic abuse, two will be female and one will be male. Every 3 days a woman will be killed by her partner and every 17 days a man will be killed by his.

The app gives practical support to victims showing how to recognise the signs of abuse either in their own relationship or in someone close to them; it shows how to keep safe while living with an abuser and what to do once you’ve left. It also provides contact details for a raft of local and national support agencies.

Julie Rimington, Manager of LIDAS said “We are delighted to be working with Virtual College to develop this and future apps. My hope is that it enables victims of domestic abuse to get the vital information and help they need to stay safe”.
